Elijah J Golf Tournament - August 2007
Twelve Gates Productions Proud Corporate Sponsor for the Elijah Jay Golf Tournament.
Tournament Goal
To raise $100,000 that will build a Boys Boarding school in Northern India. This will be an English Medium Primary School (K-8) among the Dalits or Untouchables in India. We would like to begin with 100 boys and increase each year to a maximum of 1000.
Why the Elijah Jay Golf Tournament?
The tournament is dedicated to and a memorial to Elijay Jay Hoff, son of Jay and Deanne. Elijah Jay, only 2 weeks away from his scheduled birth, died in his mommy’s womb. “We were devastated but not without hope. In the midst of our pain we were surrounded and cared for by our family, friends and the body of Christ, our church. The prayers of many went up from around the world and we felt the comfort of God as He answered those prayers. We were hurting but hopeful believing in Romans 8:28, ‘all things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose’,” said Jay Hoff.
Jay and Deanne want to help children, especially the Dalit children of India who have been dealt a very difficult hand and suffer greatly. They do not have access to things we take for granted, education for example, and they are treated as less than human by the upper castes. These children have done nothing wrong. Their misfortune is that they were born to Dalit parents. Because of this it is nearly impossible for them to ever get ahead in life.
Yorba Linda Friends Church is partnering with Operation Mobilization India and the Dalit Freedom Network to bring education and hope to these children.
The Dalit children of India do not have the same hope as we do. The proceeds of this golf tournament will enable us to build an primary school or DEC where these children will be able to receive a quality English medium education.
The education they receive will include learning from the bible and from a Christian worldview. The teachers are Indian Christians who have a love for these kids and a desire for them to know Christ.
While a quality education and learning English are needed and important for there future it is the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ we desire for them to know.
